It was easy to see Nathan Day’s pride as GM as he stood outside the recently updated Velocity Car Wash at Steamboat Springs.
“We like Steamboat a lot,” Day said of the many improvements Velocity has made to the car wash since purchasing the Mountain View Car Wash in March.
Mountain View still owns and operates the two self-service car washes on the east and west sides of downtown. “I mean there’s the atmosphere, the energy and the people,” Day said. “It was awesome. When we saw it, we knew we wanted to be here, and it didn’t take long to convince.
Day’s daughter Sunny Bourne is thrilled that the new Velocity location is family run. She works there with her husband McCoy and her sisters Jessica and Alysia.
“Our whole family has washed cars in a bunch of different washes over the years, and we can all come to work in one place,” Day said. “We were all happy with our jobs, but this opportunity presented itself and we were all able to go to work in one place, and it was just too good to pass up. “
The Steamboat wash at 150 Trafalgar Drive is one of three washes Velocity owns in Colorado and one of six the company owns in Colorado and Utah. Over the past few weeks, the new owners have installed 14 vacuum bays, which are free to the community.
However, these are just a few of the improvements customers can expect.
“We will have air tools and carpet racks in every bay,” Day said. “We are installing tire wax, additional waxes, nice payment kiosks (where customers pay before entering the wash) and a second lane for members, so they can get onto the track faster. . “
Customers will have several options when they stop at Velocity, including purchasing washes upon arrival at the payment kiosk, which will be staffed, or purchasing a monthly pass that includes unlimited washes and pay. ‘access to a separate and faster lane.
Day said customers can choose from a number of options, including the base “Shine” for $ 12, which includes a hot water wash, triple shine conditioner, undercarriage wash and a tire cleaner, and the $ 21 “Elite”, which includes everything in the “Shine Package”, plus EnduraShine nano-tech paint protection, Diamond Shine protective clearcoat, wheel polish and a 48-hour warranty. Velocity also offers two packages in the middle.
Day said that for $ 39 per month, customers can access unlimited washes and use their own lane so they don’t have to wait. Eventually, the wash plans to add scanners that will read members’ license plates as they go through the wash.
“The subscription includes our Premium Wash, which costs $ 21 and includes tire shine and hot wax sealant. It’s a great wash, and you get unlimited washes for little more than the cost of two washes, ”Day said. “Even if you do our cheapest wash, you’ll save money if you wash once a week. “
Day said the wash was meant to be environmentally friendly as well.
“We are environmentally conscious, so we are installing a nice outdoor water collection system to collect all the drainage water,” he said. “We also have a system that filters the water, and we are planning to add more. “
Day acknowledged that there had been a few changes to the Velocity Car Wash that were difficult, such as getting rid of the bay that had been used for detailing to add extra lane and improve wash performance.
“A lot of the changes we made were difficult, but I think the overall response has been really good. The majority of our customers are happy with how fast they can go through and how clean their car is,” said Day said. “Our goal is to get a clean, dry and shiny car as fast as possible.”
Day and his family are delighted to be at Steamboat and look forward to serving the community. The laundry is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
